All transcripts are presented in our unique style and format. We can also send you the transcript in a different format, as per your request. You will receive your transcript in a formatted MS Word file containing the following features.
- At the beginning of each document, we mention the duration and name of the audio file that is transcribed.
- Every word including remarks such as um, uh, you know, uh huh, OK, etc. are included.
- We typically correct the usage of slang words, unless you have asked us not to. For example, words such as wanna, cuz, and gonna will be changed to "want to," "because," and "going to." We do not correct grammatical errors. For example, the phrase "he don't sing" will not be corrected.
- Regarding speakers, we generally label them as "Speaker 1," "Speaker 2," and so on. We can also distinguish them as "Female speaker" or "Male speaker." In case you want us to label the speakers by their initials or first names, kindly provide us with the relevant details.
In your file, you may find remarks such as {phonetic} or {inaudible}. The meaning and usage of these terms is explained below:
- {phonetic}
There are some words that have similar pronunciations but different meanings. Moreover, depending on the accent, it is sometimes difficult to ascertain the exact word used in spite of adequate reference and research. In such cases, we mark the words as {phonetic}. For example, we use this remark when a speaker mentions a particular name and we can't ascertain if he is referring to his colleague or goods.
- {inaudible}
Audio quality is very important in transcription. Two transcribers work on each assignment individually, and they crosscheck to confirm parts that are hard to transcribe. However, sometimes the quality is so bad that the audio is inaudible and impossible to transcribe. In such cases, we use the remark {inaudible}. Quality audio provides quality transcripts. You can read our Recording tips and article on Audio quality and accuracy in our resources section to understand this better.
If you would like us to use some other terms instead of {phonetic} or {inaudible}, kindly inform us of the alternative and we will be glad to customize your transcript for you.
Please check our sample file to know what your transcribed document will look like.
